I remember begging my parents for months for riding lessons when I was 12, and from that first lesson, I was hooked. My junior high and high school afternoons and weekends were spent at the barn, and my early mornings were devoted to taking care of my horse, Ben. In my teen, young adult, and adult years, horses have brought me great joy and have taught me important lessons in responsibility, confidence, courage and perseverance. 

 

The horses teach and nurture in a way that inspires me. It is such a privilege to witness the connection between the kids and the horses and to hear about the life-changing results of this bond. Being a part of SonRise has been such a blessing. I know we are providing therapeutic experiences for the kids, but interacting with the kids, their families, the SonRise staff and the SonRise volunteers has been therapeutic for me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the SonRise team.
